In nearly all exhibits and activities at the Zuiderzee Museum you learn by using your senses: notice the smell in a fish smokery, learn how to write with a dip pen in a classroom which dates back to 1930, have a chat with a craftsman. All your senses will be stimulated and visitors actually experience cultural history. At the Zuiderzee Museum you learn with your head, your heart and your hands, together with your classmates and friends.
Our educational programmes are aimed at the artistic and cultural inheritance of the former Zuiderzee area and its surroundings and the present and future IJsselmeer area. The programmes link up with the general curriculum of primary education and have much ground in common with various school subjects, such as history, geography and arts.
